I would rather talk about the shopping, but I will have a go at the marathon first. Work was so manic when I got back I am just getting round to writing this now.
Heat, trans-atlantic travel and lack of training stumped me in this marathon, in that order I would like to think. I knew from the temperatures at the start this would happen and as exactly the same in New York I could have gone to sleep at the side of the road from early on in the race and felt pretty terrible. This time though I did not ignore it but recognised rightaway there was no point in pushing it and just settled down to enjoy the race.
I mostly did as well, I had some low points but as I have written about on my work blog the spectators and volunteers made it a very special run. I am not going to repeat it all here but part of the reason I wrote about it on my work blog was because of the numbers of teenage volunteers there were – go to that blog to read more!
sure I enjoyed that as I like the variety of an undulating run and love running down hill now. There was something really special about lining up at the start and seeing all of these skyscrapers that you were about to run inbetween, it is a bit hard to describe.
And that’s all I’m going to write, I can hardly remember it, it seems so long ago already and it wasn’t like I got a good time to write about. It is about the same length of time it took me to run London in the hot year and exactly an hour longer than my pb!
It was great being there for the week and Chicago was fab, I would highly recommend it. With 48 hours to go though, I was complaining that I had hardly bought any clothes – just marathon gear and one or two pairs of shoes. Debs you would be proud – I then had a spree of about 3 hours after that complaining, 1 hour or so the next day and about six hours on the last day to spend every single penny I had budgeted for, (but not more, I don’t own a credit card) and that was without, I think, any rash purchases and some very nice clothes in my collection now (in my opinion!)

Have not posted in ages as so busy with work, and not actually done a lot of training anyway.
Writing it up now anyway, just for my notes!

So again not a lot of traning done lately but still managed another pb by about 30 secs in the Inverness 10km. Not expecting/going for one in Chicago as I do not have the endurance in me.
