Slow one

June 1, 2008

3 miles approx

Could not get myself up so early this morning even though I was awake from early on and I just did a little 3 miler on Sunday morning, managing not to get lost this time.  I think my legs were really feeling the effects of yesterday and I not sure it did me any good to go out at all but I had said to the others I was going to so that made me do it.  I really missed my garmin both days though, I hate not having my splits!

Just worked out that I have done the most miles of the year so far this month, that seems odd with tapering for Edinburgh although I suppose I have not taken much recovery time.  Pleased with that though and now have a goal to beat for June!

Double run

June 1, 2008

10 miles approx

I was in Edinburgh this weekend for the second training weekend for the global teachers programme – go to my school blog if you want to read more about it (I got details of my school and host family etc – very exciting) and it is now quite scary to think that I go three weeks on Friday; which also means the WHW race is two weeks on Friday!

I had charged my garmin up on Thursday night but it must have turned itself on when I unplugged it, which it has done a couple of times and so I was left with not even a sports watch but just my ordinary watch to wear for running over the weekend.

I went out for about 5 miles on Saturday morning at about 7.15am I think, it wasn’t supposed to be that long but I got lost, and then again for about 5 miles in the afternoon at 3.30pm.  I just went down to Leith area in the morning but went down to Holyrood Park in the afternoon.  If I had had my knee supports with me I may well have gone up Arthurs Seat but as it was I managed to stay semi-sensible only 6 days after the marathon!  Really enjoyed both runs though, I am just loving all my running at the moment, it just shows what a couple of good races, some self confidence and a positive attitude can do.
