10 miles

May 13, 2008

5.30pm, 10 miles, 1.29.08, Ave pace 8.55m/m

9.06, 8.55, 8.44, 8.43, 8.55, 9.02, 9.06, 8.40, 8.58, 8.55

My ‘how wonderful’ award (not done this in a while, should have had one for Troon!) definately goes to Miss Pump tonight.  Met her for this run not sure how much I was going to do.  She had said she would do 8 and I wanted to do between 8 and 13.  Once we started running I knew I was not going to make 13, it was too hot and I was not carrying water.  When she asked what I was going to do at 5 miles and I said ‘not more than you’ she offered to do 10 and I was really glad she did as I had wanted to get to at least that.

She is also much faster than me but said from the start that she would just go at the pace I wanted and she stayed with me up to 8 miles which was great.  Don’t know where I would be with my running if it was not for her really.  We have both dragged each other out and encouraged each other many times when one of us was struggling.

I am sure my legs were hurting from the weekend still but I managed okay and now have a bit more confidence for Edinburgh so I will probably do it.
